Service Description
Jazz Dance movements like the “Charleston”and “kick ball change” can be clearly identified in foot patterns found in African Dances. However, the influence of African Dance on the world of contemporary dance forms does not end there. Tailored for pre-professional, collegiate, or middle and high school dance courses, this participatory lecture-demonstration is supported by live accompaniment from the jembe drum orchestra and/or set to curated recorded musical selections. Participants will learn how to apply West African dance techniques to contemporary themes, staging, and more. This booking selection can be tailored to fit within 60-90 minute presentation slots and is recommended for a minimum of 2 sessions; also great as an extended artistic residency. # of artists may vary from 2-5 featuring 1 instructor plus live drummers. Virtual presentations and live stream options are available.
