Yakini Horn is native to Atlanta, GA. Yakini is always happy to support the performing arts in her community. She feels at home in any theatre, especially at the Southwest Arts Center where she shared the stage with the cast of For Colored Girls…, directed by Jasmine Guy. You may have see Ms. Horn last in True Colors’ production of Colored Museum as Janine (the afro wig) and Topsy.
Acting has been Yakini’s passion since grade school, however, African dance is where she built her foundation in performing. She was a member of Barefoot Ballet Children’s Dance Ensemble from age seven to ninth grade. Yakini later became a member of Giwayen Mata in 2002 while she was attaining a dual degree in Theatre and Africana Studies at Georgia State University.
Georgia State University is where Yakini explored other performance areas such as hosting, poetry slam performance, and stand up comedy.
