Lealah Henderson was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia to Raaum Henderson and co-founder of Giwayen Mata, Sarahn Henderson. As a child, she followed her mother and sister to dance rehearsals and classes and soon gained a love for African dance. Lealah trained and took classes with Spelman Dance and Drama Institute. She started her African dance career at an early age. At the age of eight she joined Sankofa Dance Company, under the direction of Tetteh Adzaho. During her freshman year at Clark Atlanta University, Lealah joined Ashietu Dance Ministry at Spelman College under the direction of Omelika Kuumba, where she danced for two years.
Through the years, she has performed as a Guest Artist with Giwayen Mata and as of 2016, Lealah is a Giwayen Mata company member. She enjoys sharing her love of African drumming and dancing where ever she goes.
